Shopping

I went to the supermarket this morning. Here is my receipt. I was wondering if anyone has the job of guessing what people are like from what groceries they buy. I look like a soya drinking, fair trade, organic, free range food eating hippy. I suppose I am a bit, but not in a pretentious up my bum way, I hope. I just care about what I eat :)

This is obviously why I bought this atrocity yesterday:

Yes, it is a nutritious "gummi" burger. Only 10p.

Dancing

It's been a good week, though time is wizzzzzzzzzzzzzzing by. I thought you would appreciate these pictures of Ellie and me when we went out dancing our socks off last night. Ellie looks like a tiny person in the picture, but she is actually 7 inches taller.

We had comments such as "nice legs girls." This made us all giggly. We spent much time dancing and avoiding men twice our age, nice.

For those among you wishing to visit Birmingham's Broad Street, it is worth looking around. There were huge queues for some skanky places and entry fees, eg Walkabout and Ipanema, where we didn't really want to go anyway!. We managed to find much nicer places with free entry and wondered why some people are so silly! Crazy.

Sore Fingers

Hello again.

This evening I have successfully restrung and retuned my guitar. The first string was tricky - as I had no idea what I was doing, the subsequent 5 however, caused far fewer problems.

The tips of my fingers hurt from trying to play "Blowin' in the Wind," which incidentally sounds much better with new shiny (literally, the old ones were coated in rust) strings.

I feel you might appreciate a blast from the past with this fab "Rocking Mules" pic, a "band" which produced such hits as "Stonking" and "I'm sitting on the radiator." One can tell from the picture quite how long I've had my guitar - I think I got it the year of my GCSEs, back when I still had a fringe!

Is there any hope for my guitar skills? I'm not sure, although one thing is for certain - I'm more likely to play it if it's here in my room than if it's back in beautiful Hathern!

I'll keep you informed.

Smalentines!

First of all "raaaaa" blogger is really picky about when it lets me log in!

Right, it's only Wednesday, and what a week so far! I'm knackered for one, I should really be in bed, but it is only 8:45, and that is quite frankly too early.

This week it is my duty to initially answer (nearly...) all the calls that come into the office. In general, I am actually highly competant at this, however... I had a call on Monday and managed to burst into tears. The man was a bit gruff (he did have something serious to say) and I was very hormonal... This has led to many subsequent "are you all right today?" "have you got a tissue?" "how are the hormones today?" questions. Marvelous! They think I'm very emotionally delicate.

I think Tuesday passed without too much bother.

Today however, I popped to the loo, then came over all funny, went back into the office and thought I was going to faint! Low iron levels I think.

Weak weak little thing...

Right, must call my imaginary husband Corinthian,

xx

Worse for wear

Morning kids,

Not feeling great this morning... I had a nice evening out last night, although in my typical style I went home before the club, what can I say? I'm just not into that. I like my bed too much.

I'm in it now actually, I would like to go and make myself some porridge, but I'm feeling too lazy. I can't speak at the moment as my throat is so sore after shouting to be heard last night, does anyone else get this? I'll be fine once I've got some food, to the left is a picture of some porridge, I don't have any fruit so I can't eat this version, but I would love to!
Mmmmm.

First week of the job is done, I feel a bit more settled now, I'll give it another two before I feel at ease though. I still haven't learnt to keep my mouth shut, I have to stop embarrassing myself!

Blogs are strange, because I can't really write everything, as it would just be innappropriate! This is a skill in itself being able to talk about things without saying every detail. I don't have this skill evidentally as I just had the urge to write those two sentences!

Ooo, I do have a beautiful new email address if you'd like to email me at work: Lizzy.Williams(at)birmingham.gov.uk, so much more beautiful than the Elizabeth one.

Right I'll probably ramble more this weekend, think I'm in a rambling mode.

New Job...

Just a quick post.

I started my new job today, going well so far, although obviously just settling in. I have good feelings about it though and it's great to be working in the city centre and not being a temp, although signing up to a pension scheme is a little scary!

I finally wrote my statement for the BSP today, didn't think it would be out of place here so here goes:

"The time I spent with the BSP gave me a much needed confidence boost for the seemingly daunting prospect of working life. Much of my placement was spent in the partner organisation of the Community Safety Partnership, where I provided support for a high ranking police officer and gained useful skills. The practical advice and feedback I received were really helpful for interviews and day to day working practice. Experience acquired during my placement greatly helped me to obtain my current position in the Anti-Social Behaviour Unit. The BSP was just what I needed after finishing university, an excellent and vital stepping stone. Thank you."

I hope you enjoyed that. :-)

Snooze

Hey kids,

I've had my days off now. I spent most of Thursday travelling, it took me around 7 hours to get to Scarborough from Birmingham because of the wind! Not mine I might add. I had a lovely time up there with Jenny though, we went to Robin Hood's bay and the beach, made buns and sat by the fire and drank cider. To the left is the rather stunning but chilly view from Jen's house.

I do have things growing in my throat though now, rank. Finally relaxed and let go and the throat rankness that has been threatening to hit, finally did. Perfectly in time for starting a new job on Monday. Thanks. No worries, though, I'm not complaining. I'll be fine, I'll just get me some sleep!

I went to a salsa class on Monday. It wasn't a beginners class though, we were actually expected to know something, which was a little unfortunate seeing as I could barely remember how to mambo, or indeed that that was even what it is called!

Wednesday was my last day at Birmingham City Council Occupational Therapy department. I got a leaving card and a few hugs which was a little surprising! Nice though obviously:) The other temp wasn't too happy I was leaving her there as the only temp, however my replacement starts on Monday, so no worries...

Right, time for some rest and recovery,

gros bisous
